Tomiwa Aluko

Introduction

My name is Tomiwa Aluko and I am currently a senior pursing a B.S. in Computer Engineering with a minor in Technology Entrepreneurship at the University of Central Florida. I am a Nigerian-American from Miami, Florida, where my household consists of my mother, father, and younger brother.

I am a proud brother of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated where I was initiated at the Xi Iota Chapter at the University of Central Florida. I currently serve as the East Area Assistant Director and have held chapter positions such as President, Secretary, and Historian.

I’m also involved in other organizations on campus such as the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Hack @ UCF, and UCF Black Student Union (BSU). I currently serve as the Senator for NSBE.

Work Experience

UCF's First Year Experience, (April 2023 - Present) | Office Assistant

• Self-taught and developed JavaScript code for auto-populating current date and time in Google Spreadsheet call log, streamlining phone call data entry.

• Formulated Microsoft Excel functions for simplifying Cash Deposits data entry and eliminating the need for repetitive complex calculations.

• Receive incoming phone calls/assist walk-in customers, manage e-mails, chat with students online, and respond to incoming/outgoing departmental email.

• Assist in the facilitation of the Orientation program for all undergraduate students involving approximately 17,500 First Time in College and Transfer students.

• Serving as the Chief Administrative officer of the chapter

• Presiding over all regular and/or called meetings and performing such other duties

• Representing the chapter in such a manner as the nature of my office may require

• Record and keep a correct and impartial record and report the proceedings of each chapter meeting, ascertain the attendance, serve as the custodian of all official records, and make room/venue reservations for events.

• Actively engaged in community service in the greater Orlando area.

• Serve as a mentor to middle and high school students; discussing the importance of completing high school and going to college, sexual abstinence and venereal diseases, and educate the importance of voting at local, state, and national elections.

National Society of Black Engineers UCF (NSBE), Orlando, FL (June 2024 – Present) | Senator

• Ensures NSBE-UCF's participation in voting, manages disciplinary matters, and acts as a liaison with surrounding chapters.

• Coordinates conference attendance, handles budgeting with the Treasurer, and serves as the main point of contact for members.

• Advises on parliamentary procedures, submits monthly reports, and represents NSBE-UCF at meetings and conferences.
